Each summer, Ford’s Theatre invites teachers from across the country to participate in an intensive program about Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass and the city of Washington during the Civil War. Teachers come away from their week in Washington with: an array of virtual tours; the oratory skills to get students on their feet performing speeches by Lincoln and Douglass; the ability to take students on content-driven experiential learning adventures; and the tools to use classroom drama to help historic characters come alive.
